Course description
In this high school Geometry course, students will become familiar with geometric concepts, constructs, and skills. They will practice skills using self-corrected exercise sets in preparation for chapter tests that gauge their grasp of the material. Lessons include exploratory activities to help students connect with their prior knowledge and explore topics in novel ways. Activities provide varied opportunities to explore real-world applications, dive deeper into concepts with technology, analyze concepts from a historical and cultural perspective, apply math concepts artistically, look at issues in society through a mathematical lens, and more.
Topics include reasoning, proofs, angle congruence, similarities, transformations, area, and volume.
Course materials
In addition to the coursebook, the following textbook is required for this course:
- Geometry by Elayn Martin-Gay (Pearson, 2016)
While the answer key is in the back of the textbook, the textbook is also accompanied by an online resource called MyLab Math that contains many helpful tools, such as instructional videos, chapter test prep videos, a detailed solution manual, and the digital textbook which can be downloaded to a device and viewed offline with the Pearson App. MyMathLab will soon be available for individual purchase for students using the course independently at the publisher's website (This access is not included with the bookstore textbook or coursebook purchase). We will provide the specific access information to you shortly after your order ships in April.
