In this PreAlgebra course, students will develop the skills and understanding to prepare them for Algebra 1. They will practice skills using self-corrected exercise sets in preparation for chapter tests that gauge their grasp of the material. Activities provide varied opportunities to explore applications of the lesson concepts.

- Rounding and estimating
- Exponents and order of operations
- Simplifying algebraic expressions
- Factoring
- Least common denominator and equivalent fractions
- Ratios and proportions
- Congruent and similar triangles
- Percents, decimals, and fractions
- Pictographs, bar graphs, histograms, line graphs, and circle graphs
- Coordinate systems and paired data
- Graphing linear equations in two variables
- Probability
- Lines, angles, perimeter, area, volume, weight, and mass
- Conversions between the U.S. and metric systems
- Polynomials
This course is organized into 36 lessons that correspond with the 10 chapters in the textbook.
While the answer key is in the back of the textbook, the textbook is also accompanied by an online resource called MyLab Math (Previously referred to as My Math Lab) that contains many helpful tools such as instructional videos, chapter test prep videos, a detailed solution manual, and the digital textbook, which can be downloaded to a device and viewed offline with the Pearson App. MyLab Math will soon be available for individual purchase for students using the course independently at the publisher's website (This access is not included with the textbook or coursebook purchase). We will email you when the vendor has the online site set up for our materials, it's still under construction as of August 11, 2025

The course ID for students not enrolled in Oak Meadow’s distance learning school is oakmeadow45189. If you are enrolling with Oak Meadow, your teacher will provide your complimentary access code prior to your start date.
Please note that Oak Meadow course assignments are not loaded into MyLab Math nor does it tie into an Learning Management System. The MyLab Math platform is supplementary and not required to complete the course.
